Wolf Creek Anthem by Alexis Alrich
In partnership with the Wolf Creek Community Alliance, Bennett Lopez premiered the new work dedicated to the waterway local to Nevada City, CA.
Written to raise awareness of the Wolf Creek watershed and the locals who have championed its revival, this piece is an elegant overture to nature.
Alrich is a composer based in Grass Valley and has been commissioned across the world with works for percussion, strings, oboe and more. More information about her work here

“Written by Gary Powell Nash for the 2011 Northwest Oboe Seminar, this piece highlights oboe and English horn with lyrical melodies and harmonies”
“Solitario is written in a nostalgic Latin American melodic style. It is an intimate soliloquy for the oboe, challenging the musician to stretch their expression and range. This piece was written originally for bassoon and arranged for oboe in 2005”

With the CMG music recording orchestra, Bennett Lopez plays principal English horn on this project featuring composition from John Paul Hayward. Using famous themes from the videogame Chrono Cross, this tribute was fully funded via Kickstarter and recorded in Los Angeles at East-West Studios.
